Scarface

Scarface el 9085' (prom 505') has the most precipitous summit area in the west wing of the southern Beaverhead Mountains. You can see the western flank of this mountain from Idaho Highway 28 at Birch Creek. Just look for the mining road scars on its lower slopes.

To see the ragged upper part of the mountain you've got to get in the range. This north aspect of Scarface can be seen from SW slopes of Copper Mountain. Photo date 11/16/08.

Scarface was one of the last in the Peaks of Clark County Series to be climbed. Summit view NW across Birch Creek Valley to Lemhi Range, Diamond Peak to Bell Mountain section, on 12/18/06.

Scarface on Scarface

I remember Scarface with affection because it was the concluding peak for my one year personal best- 117 different new summits reached in 2006. Summit vanity shot 12/18/06.

Had good luck coming in from the SW, up Spring Canyon, then an easy scramble up the peak's east ridge.
